This week, we take a cue from ELCA Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton, and continue to be challenged to live out our baptismal call to work for justice and peace in the world, especially as that relates to issues around race, poverty, and inequality.
Also this past week, This American Life presented an episode by Nikole Hannah-Jones. She went into Michael Brown’s Missouri school district (Normandy), and drew out some compelling stories about how racial integration in the area schools has led to a narrower achievement gap between disparate people groups there. I think it will open us up to some good dialogue and discussion about oir own context(s).
Come ready to reflect on these stories, and how our lives are changed by them.
