Monday, March 13th

Hey crew,

It’s time for Music Monday again at Pub Theology! We are planning to gather again this week at LTS from 5:30-7, and to prepare for our time together, carve out a good half an hour if you can to listen, watch, experience, and ponder the layered meanings of the first two tracks from Bon Iver’s recently released album, “22, A Million”.

Listen to the songs in the following order, at least once, and think about the lyrics and what the artist (songwriter Justin Vernon) is describing, and what theological insights they may hold. Also, pay attention to the way the song titles are written, as the symbolism may be important:

  1. 22 (Over S∞∞n) [Bob Moose Extended Cab Version] – youtu.be/ISCEilPMNak
  2. 10 d E A T h b R E a s T ⚄ ⚄ (Extended Version) – youtu.be/HNy7VtSsmu8

Once you have listened to the songs (and ONLY after you’ve listened to them both and have pondered them!), then read this review from Atwood Magazine: atwoodmagazine.com/10-deathbreast-bon-iver to see what further insights it may hold.

Happy listening. See you at the pub.
