Road Trips

Monday, April 3rd (MOVIE NIGHT!)

Hey all,

This is your friendly reminder that we are going to see Martin Luther: The Idea that Changed the World at Wehrenberg Theater on Monday. Plan to meet at the theater at 7pm (4340 Maine Ave SE, Rochester, MN 55904). The show starts at 7:30 and is sold out, but if you don’t have a ticket and want to try to “fly standby”, there may be some last-minute openings you can fill, but you’ll have to show up and wait and see — no guarantees.

There are at least 20 people in our group. Please keep an eye out for one another, and we can try to find some good seats.

Also, to be clear, we won’t meet at LTS this week, but we WILL meet Monday the 10th.

See you at the movies!

Monday, July 11th: ROAD TRIP!

Hi all,

This week we are going on a road trip to the Rochester Public Library to view a showing of the independent film, “How Love Won”. Please plan to arrive around 6:00 p.m. on Monday evening. There should be parking available in the ramp adjacent to the library, which is free after 5:00 p.m. (I think).

The film starts at 6:30 and runs about an hour. The organizations hosting the viewing will also hold a panel discussion afterwards. If we want to continue in conversation beyond that, perhaps we can head to the Tap House to do so.

Here’s the official event page on Facebook: m.facebook.com/events/144538342625428/

The trailer can be viewed here: vimeo.com/158647772

Hope to see you there!

Monday, February 22nd

Pub Theologians,

We have two things for you this week.

First, our topic for Monday: Don’t believe everything your parents tell you! Listen to Zak Ebrahim’s TED Talk from nearly two years ago: www.ted.com/talks/zak_ebrahim_i_am_the_son_of_a_terrorist_here_s_how_i_chose_peace, and come ready to discuss the implications of what he shares. We’re at  Life’s Too Short Brewing Company again, from 5:30-7pm.

Second, an opportunity coming in early March: RAWtools (an organization facilitating nonviolent solutions to conflict) is planning an event in Chicago, where a metalworker will take a gun and form it into a garden tool as a physical symbol of peacemaking. See rawtools.org/peacemaker-tour/ and www.facebook.com/RAWtoolsInc/ for more info. The plan is to take a bit of a road trip: drive to Chicago on Friday March 4th, stay overnight, possibly with a host congregation, and then drive back to Rochester on Saturday.

See you at the Pub.
